Life can take an unexpected turn as Berit Griffin found out as she embarks in the fight for her life. But that shouldn’t stop you from living your life, according to the Senior Public Relations Specialist at Travel Leaders Group. Find out how Berit has embraced her passion for travel and why she encourages others in similar situations to use an expert travel advisor to help live a regret-free life.
After being diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer, I've become close with other cancer patients all over the the country. And since we all have an incurable cancer, I have been witness to the many ups and downs that come with this. Incurable diseases can cause regrets to bubble up to the surface, and what I have heard over and over is “I regret I didn’t travel.” “Why didn’t I take that trip while I still could?” “Now I’ll never get to see ______.”
People really, really want to travel. They want to see the world, expand their horizons, make memories with their families and friends. But too often, they don’t. Sometimes it is just too late and health does not allow for going far from home. And it saddens me to hear that every time.
Let’s be clear: life is expensive. Cancer is also really expensive and can make the future seem pretty murky. It is natural to want to focus on the basics of life and plan for the future. As I have witnessed though, the future can be full of regrets over the road not taken. So, take the trip!
I decided to take my own advice and have two trips already planned for 2020. Do I 100 percent know I will be well at the times I am scheduled to travel? No, but I am choosing to have less regrets by achieving some travel dreams.
My travel advisor has the smarts and savvy to get me set up so all I need to do is just have a great time.
One of the best things I have done though is to use an experienced travel advisor to plan my trips. She has been able to stretch my budget to fit in all the experiences I want to have. Using a travel advisor to plan my vacations has been beneficial to my bottom line. Working with a professional encouraged me to set a budget from the beginning.
It has also been a great experience because for the first time I don’t feel like I have taken on a part-time job in planning a trip! My travel advisor has the smarts and savvy to get me set up so all I need to do is just have a great time.
As I head over to London this spring, as well as on a cruise, I’ll be thankful that my health is good enough to allow me to travel to some great places. The memories I make and experiences I have there will be worth their weight in gold. And I will also be thankful for an awesome travel professional who made it happen. No matter what your situation in life is, it’s a good idea to have a travel advisor on your side.
